IOP(SA) PLUMBING DOCUMENTS

PLUMBING COMPLIANCE CERTIFICATE PADS

Designed specifically for IOP(SA) plumbing contractors to issue to customers/municipal inspectors/insurance companies and professional consultants.

The plumbing compliance certificate confirms that the plumbing installation was installed by a qualified plumber as required in part A18/1 of the National Building Regulations, (SABS 0400/1990).

Each plumbing compliance certificate indicates a brief description of what type of plumbing installation work has been completed, it will also indicate the relevant SANS Codes of Practice that apply to the work completed.

IOP(SA) has issued over 90 000 of these plumbing compliance certificates since they were first introduced three years ago. The books are available from the national office in pad form containing 50 certificates per pad.

Cost : R125.00 + VAT per pad

Geyser Checklist Pads

Due to the exceptionally high volume of faulty or badly installed geysers reported to us by insurance companies, IOP(SA) has introduced a standard geyser checklist pad for plumbing contractors to report to the owner on the compliance level of their geyser installation.

Geyser installations are required to comply with the quality and standards of the SABS Code of Practice as set out in SANS 10254/2004 edition 3.

The checklist books are available to members from the national office in pad form containing 50 certificates per pad.

Cost : R125.00 + VAT per pad

NOTES

The geyser checklist has been specifically designed for qualified plumbers to assist insurance companies and consumers by issuing an accurate technical report on the status of the geyser installation, and what work is necessary to make the installation compliant.

SANS 10254/2004 item 4.3.1.2, that should any geyser maintenance, repair or replacement work be undertaken on a geyser installation, the plumber shall issue a report to the owner in writing, hence the reason why IOP(SA) has introduced geyser checklists.

The main benefit for the plumbing contractor is that the IOP(SA) geyser checklist replaces the need specified in the Code of Practice for the plumbing contractor to write out separate reports to consumers every time they work on a geyser.

The other advantage is that they are easy to use and consumers are impressed at the level of professionalism, so it is not surprising that many insurance companies are now starting to insist on them, before approving a claim for a replacement geyser.

The geyser checklist will in many cases also provide the plumbing contractor with additional work, as the checklist may indicate to the consumer that a number of items will need to be upgraded in order for the geyser installation to be compliant.
