SA government proactively working on water issues

Government has noted the domestic media coverage of water related issues around the country, and further reiterates its commitment to deal with such challenges and ensure that no citizen is left without water. Recent pointed interventions by national government to support municipalities in dealing with the water shortages prove our commitment to end the scourge of water shortage.

No more heavy metals!

As from July 2015, all South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) certified polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic pipes manufactured in South Africa will be heavy metal free.

The South African Plastic Pipe Manufacturers Association (SAPPMA) chairman Jan Venter said that the association welcomes the decision by the SABS.

Commitment to deal with water issues

Government is committed to deal with water related issues, with interventions already in place to address this. To date, it has announced a capital injection in excess of R500 million to deal with issues of infrastructure refurbishment, operation and maintenance to ensure that such interruptions in the water supply do not recur.

The Natexec of IOP(SA) has agreed to allow all existing IOP(SA) members to have the opportunity of paying their membership fees by debit order from the new financial year 1 March 2014. Jenny Calmeyer will be emailing the electronic debit order form to all members during the first week of February. If you wish to make payment of your annual membership fee in twelve equal monthly debit order payments over the year please make sure you complete and return the form as soon as you receive it so that your details can be in place for the first debit order fun of the financial year which will be 3 March 2014.
