A word from IOPSA’s president
By: Chris Burgess
President of Institute of Plumbing South Africa (IOPSA), Chris Burgess, has been elected to serve a second term with the organisation. He provides a report on IOPSA’s progress during his first term and reveals his plans for the future.
“Looking back over the past two years in my term of office as president of IOPSA, and reflecting on the progress IOPSA has made on a national and regional level, it is most admirable considering all that has been achieved over the past two years rests on the shoulders of passionate volunteers.
World Plumbing Day
Firstly, World Plumbing Day was well supported, and both the workshop and guest speakers added great value to all who attended. A visit to the Cape to re establish the region was carried out, with the meetings being held in George, Mossel Bay, and Knysna. Our mandate was to have a regional chairman in place to meet the needs of our members in the various parts of the Cape. This region has been dormant for many years, and is now functional. Following further visits and meetings in the region, the local authority in Hessequa Municipality has now made it compulsory for all plumbers working in their region to register with the Plumbing Industry Registration Board (PIRB).
