Membership of the Free State branch of the Institute of Plumbing South Africa (IOPSA) is on the rise. It has grown with 3% the past year, Gert Fraser, chair of Free State, told a packed monthly meeting boasting 70% of its members in attendance.
Fraser also informed members that a meeting was held with the chief building inspector and senior inspector of the Plumbing Industry Registration Board (PIRB) to make it compulsory for all plumbers to issue a certificate of compliance (COC) before PIRB issues an occupation certificate to any plumbers.
The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) in Bloemfontein has also made it compulsory for all plumbers to be members of IOPSA and register with PIRB.
Fraser heads a committee consisting of: Theuns van Wyk, Piet Naude, Bertus van Heerden, Rainier Hendrickse and Francois van Straten.
