Qualifications information:

  1. Occupation: Plumbing Certificate
    • Full qualification. Required to practice plumbing as a competent person and sign off Certificates of Compliance (COC)
  2. Occupation: Solar Hot Water installer
    • Additional qualification. Individuals are required to have a Plumbing Occupation Certificate and a Solar Hot Water certificate
  3. Occupation: Heat Pump Installer
    • Additional qualification. Individuals are required to have a Plumbing Occupation Certificate and a Heat Pump Installer certificate
  4. Hot Water Installer
    • NQF LVL 2 qualification. Individuals can install hot water cylinders under the guidance of a qualified plumber

Five learning paths to become a qualified plumber   

  1. Apprenticeship (NEW A21)
  2. Learnership (OLD to be phased out)
  3. Artisan bridging program (GTPP)
  4. Person not in employment, education or training (NEETS)
  5. Recognition of prior learning (RPL)
